Vital Signs Moves Forward
On September 16th, The Erie Vital Signs partners hosted one of two sessions regarding Brain Drain and Brain Gain.
The Vital Signs Steering Committee analyzed the conversation from the 16th, and determined some issues that have the potential and need to move forward distinctly around the Brain Gain Topic Area.
Those include:
* Engaging individuals into various networks/interest areas (immersing diverse/newcomers)
* Expanding community service and leadership opportunities for college and young adults (aligning business, university, community linkages)
* Developing unified brand for Erie aimed at returning natives, young people (marketing Erie to the rest of the world)
* Addressing the aesthetic and physical attractiveness of Downtown and community in general (marketing Erie to the rest of the world)
The Vital Signs Steering Committee based these ideas on a number of reasons including:
* They are manageable, needed, and would make aSIGNIFICANT impact on talent attraction and retention
* They are important pieces that would not duplicate, but would complement, other significant initiatives planned and underway in the community
* They seem to be the right initiatives for this kind of group to wrap their arms around, get behind and "push"
Eventually, the Vital Signs Steering Committee will share the “Soul of the Community” Report conducted by The Knight Foundation that embodies some of these things and the Spirit of Brain Gain.
