Regional Cooperation: Local Governmental Entities
Erie County is governed by an elected County Executive and a seven member legislative Council elected from voting districts throughout the County. There are three primary types of municipal governments: Boroughs, Townships, and Cities. All municipal governments operate under the respective laws applicable to their classification and form of government.
Municipal governments are autonomous from County government. The municipal governments in Erie County are principal providers of public services.
