The number of full-time employees working at arts, entertainment and recreation establishments in Erie County has increased significantly in recent years, from 1,765 in 2005 to 2,608 in 2009 (a net of 843). While tapering off slightly in 2007, strong employment growth in this sector still occurred across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which netted more than 10,776 new jobs over the same period.
While employment in the arts, entertainment and recreation sector is a small portion of the overall economy, growth within this category reveals a positive trend for both the Erie County region as well as the Commonwealth’s cultural vitality.
