Brain Gain Indicators / Post-Graduate Activity

Although we are currently unable to identify how many Erie County high school graduates go on to local higher educational institutions, we are able to know if they are in fact going on to higher education, at what level, and whether or not it’s in Pennsylvania.

The percentage of college bound high school graduates in Erie County has increased nearly 2.5% from 2005-2006 to 2007-2008, while experiencing a slight decrease from 2006-2007 to 2007-2008. The Commonwealth experienced a similar trend line; however, Erie County was approximately 1.2% below the rate of PA in 2007-2008. On a positive note, Erie County has closed the gap over the past three years showing movement in the right direction.
