Erie Vital Signs
Erie Vital Signs is a project that encourages our community to create a shared vision for the future, built on data. It tracks indicators that measure our county's well-being in the eight topic areas seen above.
The goal of Erie Vital Signs is to inform and inspire. We believe an increased focus on data will help encourage positive community change.
The data and analysis will serve as a common source of information on critical topics that affect the health and progress of Erie County and inform community stakeholders, spur discussion and collaboration, and monitor our quality of life.
Features
Special features of the Erie Vital Signs website include addition of social equity indicators that shed light on disparities by race and ethnicity. To illuminate stark social equity gaps, the website features also interactive maps that provide location-based insight to how social and economic conditions vary in different parts of Erie County.
Community indicators are measurements of social, environmental and economic factors that affect quality of life. In a community indicator project, these factors are gathered and analyzed over time to monitor the community's well-being and whether it's improving, declining, or staying the same. These metrics help us decide how to focus our resources to improve our community, and then to monitor the impact of our collective efforts.
Erie Vital Signs is a leadership initiative of The Erie Community Foundation.
The EVS Key Indicators for 2020 can be found by clicking the one-page preview to the left, or by visiting the Dashboard.
The EVS Key Indicators are Erie Vital Sign's succinct function in reporting one number, amount, or rate which represent a targeted analysis on one number from our Topic Categories
Key Indicators are rooted deeply in the areas of focus for community partners, organizations, and local government commitments and strategies and can be cited during those discussions and performance reviews. The Key Indicators are also composed of those indicators which are most likely used in comparing the Erie community to another.
Data will be updated yearly alongside census provisions; technical appendix is available here.
